Dave Herron · Herron Heating Ltd Accepted Sent Mon 09:41
Request message"Dave, saw your post on losing engineers to agency rates. We're working on the other end of that problem, getting apprentices productive in half the time. Worth a connect."
Follow-ups (2)
Follow-up 1 · Tue 10:02"Cheers for connecting Dave. No pitch, one question: how long before you'd trust a new improver on a boiler swap unsupervised?"
Follow-up 2 · Thu 09:15"That 18 months you mentioned is the number we halve. Happy to show you on a 15 minute call if useful."
Priya Nair · Nair Mechanical · 22 vans Pending Sent Tue 11:20
Request message"Priya, your hiring post said it all: three months to find one qualified engineer. We help firms grow the ones they can actually get. Would value the connect."
Tom Bradley · Bradley Building Services Accepted Sent Wed 13:05
Request message"Tom, fellow ex-tools founder here. Building AR training that gets apprentices earning in half the time. Connect?"
Follow-ups (1)
Follow-up 1 · Fri 09:30"Thanks for the connect Tom. What's your current apprentice-to-engineer ratio? Most firms your size run 1 to 6, the good ones run 1 to 3."

On Owen Morgan's post · "Why nobody wants to be a plumber anymore" View post · Mon 09:52
Our comment"Plenty want to be plumbers. What they don't want is three years as a bag carrier on £7 an hour before anyone trusts them with a job. Fix the time to competence and the pipeline fixes itself."
Replies (2)
Owen Morgan replied"That's a fair point actually. The apprenticeship model hasn't changed since my dad's day."
Sarah Whitfield replied"This is exactly our problem. Who do I speak to?"
On Jane Buckley's post · "Merchant trade counters are dying" View post · Tue 14:18
Our comment"The counter isn't dying, the queue is. An engineer who can identify the right part from the van doesn't need twenty minutes and a coffee at the counter. The merchants who win will meet them in the van."
